چکیده

Fermilab has just completed a very successful 1992-1996 Collider Run I which has led to the discovery of the top quark [1, 2] along with many other remarkable physics results. A typical luminosity of 2×10 cm s was achieved with 7×10 antiprotons in each of 6 bunches. The total integrated luminosity delivered to both the CDF and DØ collider detectors was about 150pb (see Fig. 1). The collider reliability was such that 72.6% (421 of 580) of the stores were ended intentionally. Table 1 lists the operational performance of the Collider at the end of Run-I, accompanied by operational goals for the complex following construction of the Main Injector and Recycler rings and a completion of the Tevatron33 project [3]. Typical luminosity at the beginning of a store translates to integrated luminosity with a 33% duty factor. Fundamental limitations are related to the total head-on beam-beam tune shift seen by antiprotons ξ and to the total number of antiprotons in the collider that is a product of the number of bunches and the number of p’s per bunch, Nb × Np. The beam-beam tune shift that can be tolerated by the antiprotons is believed to be limited by the tune space available between resonances up to about tenth order. Approximately 0.024 has been achieved in the past. For a given total number of antiprotons the luminosity does not depend upon the number of bunches.

Present status and future prospects for a Higgs boson discovery at the Tevatron and LHC

Discovering the Higgs boson is one of the primary goals of both the Tevatron and the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). The present status of the Higgs search is reviewed and future prospects for discovery at the Tevatron and LHC are considered. This talk focuses primarily on the Higgs boson of the Standard Model and its minimal supersymmetric extension. Theoretical expectations for the Higgs boson a...

Elucidation of Current Status, Implemented Policies and Interventions, Achieved Results, and Future Plans of Iran to Control the Risk Factors of Non-Communicable Diseases: A Review Article

Background: This review study aims to shade light on the effects of carrying out interventions and policies in order to reduce the incidence and prevalence of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) and their behavioral risk factors (i.e., unhealthy diet, insufficient physical activity and smoking) and strategies and approaches to reduce their attributed burden. Method: In this research, the documen...

نگاهی به آینده برنامه‌ریزی در ایران

The entire world has seen more or less dramatic changes in objectives and status of plans, as well as how plans are devised. Recent plans are more diverse when it comes to setting objectives and mainly stress the sustainability of development, rather than development per se. Modernday plans are mainly strategic and collaborative rather than technocratic. Finally, these plans are mostly non- cen...

Se p 20 01 CDF results on diffraction from Run I and plans for Run II ⋆ Konstantin

Results on soft and hard diffraction obtained by the CDF Collaboration in Run I of the Fermilab Tevatron p̄p collider are reviewed and compared with results from the DESY ep collider HERA and with theoretical expectations. In addition, the CDF program for diffractive studies in Run II is briefly reviewed with emphasis on the relevant detector upgrades and physics goals.

Assessment of Employment Status in Fourth and Fifth Economic, Social and Cultural Development Plans

Achieving a low unemployment rate has been the goal of all six post-revolutionary development programs as well as other major macro programs. However, the Iranian economy has experienced an average unemployment rate of 10 to 15 percent in recent decades, with no declining trend, so searching about the created employment is essential for proper future policy making. The present study analyzes th...
